The story begins in Framvalia, a magical city where Mara Mantara lives—a witch with a golden heart but a desperately disorganized home. When three townspeople—round Roula Zaharula, tall Makis Kalamakis, and anxious Achilles Apsidas—come asking for help, Mara tries to assist them with magical potions. But her messy house causes comic disasters: Roula becomes flat as paper, Makis inflates like a balloon, and Achilles grows rubber hands that tickle everyone! Discouraged, Mara decides to clean her house and discovers that the real solution is not magic. She changes careers and becomes a librarian, while helping her friends discover new careers that match their talents.
Imagine a witch who wants to help the world but whose spells always go wrong! Mara Mantara is the kind of character children will adore—lovable, funny, and human in her flaws. This book is much more than a simple magic story. Tsoukalit creates a world where mistakes are not catastrophic but opportunities for learning. The magical city of Framvalia, with its singing streams and laughing goblins, offers children a sanctuary of imagination while teaching them practical life lessons. When Mara discovers that true magic lies in effort rather than spells, children learn a precious truth.
This book is ideal for children aged 6-10 who love stories with magic and humor. It will especially appeal to children who often feel they make mistakes or struggle with organization, as they will identify with Mara Mantara. Parents who want to read stories in Greek to their children will appreciate the linguistic richness and creative elements of the text. Educators will find in this book an excellent tool to discuss with children themes such as perseverance, self-improvement, and the value of hard work.
