Tawantin
Tawantin” is a book divided in two parts. The first part offers four stories of the Earth, influenced by the Peruvian Andes’ cosmovision. The second part, “Hurcanmayu, the River of Commitments”, is a story about a child who has to face the great crossing in order to meet The Great Spirit. Tawantin, in Quechua language, the language that was spoken by the people of the Andes long before the people of Spain arrived there, means “The union of four around a center”. It is a sacred symbol, often depicted as a mandala of the soul. This books offers two tawantins, first the four stories of the Earth; second, the legend of the Peruvian Andes about death, the great crossing of the spirit, when time has come for it to be united with the Great Father. People of the Andes believed that this crossing can happen with four different paths. And, that is another four-factor scheme. Only one thing in common… The center. The fifth element.
